There is now a new discussion group for users of reflector 9550 and its associated Echolink channels. You can access the discussion group by the following means:
Mailing list: Send an email to listserv@freeway.apana.org.au with the Subject: subscribe ref9550. Once subscribed, you will be able to read from and post to the list.
WWW - Visit http://freeway.apana.org.au, click on "Message Groups", then select "VKRADIO", and in the group list, select "IRLP Reflector 9550 Users" to access the discussion group . If you want to be able to post messages, you will need to create an account on the system, using the "New User" link in the left menu. The web interface is similar to a web forum.
Telnet/SSH/RLogin - Telnet offers a text based BBS interface. New users are advised to create an account. Once created, proceed to Jump to message area, then select "7" for VKRADIO, then select "IRLP Reflector 9550 Users" (currently "5")". From there, you will be able to (R)ead or (P)ost messages. If you use a client with file transfer capabilities such as SyncTerm or NetRunner, you can also read messages offline. Contact me via the IRLP status page for instructions. SSH (port 222), telnet or rlogin to freeway.apana.org.au .
NNTP (Newsgroups) - The group can be accessed using a Usenet newsreader. Use freeway.apana.org.au, port 119 as your NNTP server, and the list will appear as Vkradio.REF9550 in the list of groups. By default, you will get only read only access. You will need to create an account (using WWW or telnet/SSH/rlogin), and configure your newsreader to login to the system. To reply to messages, use the Followup feature of your newsreader. Use Post to post a new message.
Note: The same account can be used for WWW, telnet and NNTP access, you only need to create one account. Mailing list users don't need to create an account.
From May 2016, I will be asking for managers or representatives of managers of nets hosted on any of the reflector channels to use the discussion group, so I can keep you up to date with any important information.

Reflector 9550 is Australia's IRLP reflector, offering 10 IRLP channels and some integrated EchoLink conferences to the global VoIP community, with an emphasis on Australian users. Reflector 9550 was installed for a number of reasons:
1. It provides a second low latency site for Australian IRLP and EchoLink users at the time, which provides local redundancy, if either Reflector 9500 or 9550 fail in the future.
2. Reflector 9550 is a development platform for new IRLP/EchoLink reflector technologies. Reflector 9550 was used to develop and test the second generation integrated IRLP/EchoLink conferences in late 2009. These second generation systems are more closely matched to changes in the underlying reflector architecture, and provide greater security, multiple integrated conferences per reflector host, and many new features, compared to the original integrated conferences, which have been in use since 2005.
3. Reflector 9550 provides extra capacity for integrated IRLP/EchoLink conferences for the Australian VoIP community. This will allow more user groups to have their own dedicated conference, and provide more options to separate scheduled nets from general ragchew traffic.

9555 - Channel 5

Codec: Capable of using uLaw, ADPCM and GSM, connecting IRLP nodes default to uLaw (UNCOMP), unless overridden by custom scripts.
EchoLink: VK3IRL-R.
Usage: Available for general use.
Notes: This channel is full duplex capable on all codecs. The standard IRLP code for connecting to reflectors doesn't support full duplex. However, if your hardware supports full duplex, and you know how to write a custom_decode entry to connect full duplex to the reflector, you're more than welcome to experiment. Echolink doesn't support full duplex, to my knowledge. Third party implementations may vary.

VA3XPR Global 360 Net every Wednesday 7:30PM - 8:30 PM US Eastern time (start time 0030 UTC Thurs November - March, 2330 UTC Wed March - November).

Usage: Part of the "EchoCloud" international IRLP/EchoLink conference network. Traffic is generally ragchewing, nets are frowned upon here, and are limited to one or two short nets a month of national interest. See http://vklink.vkradio.com for more information.
